Veteran rapper Vector Tha Viper has spoken out about the recent change of stage name from his colleague, MI Abaga, to “The Guy.”
MI, real name Jude Abaga, ditched his 15-year-old stage name to create a new identity for himself.
“After more than 15 years as Mister Incredible [M.I]I will be discontinuing the name ‘MI Abaga’ and adopting a new name for a new project because my new project is hard AF and deserves a new name,” revealed MI.
Vector felt that MI’s fans would accept his new name, “The Guy,” but will still call him MI despite that.
“I wish him the best of luck with the transition from the old name to the new one, but I really don’t think it will work out. We’re going to accept it, but they’ll call him MI anyway,” Vector said on a recent television show.
He added that if he changed his stage name, he would choose Lanre, but the name Vector is what the majority would identify with. “If anything, I would go back to Lanre, but too many people know me as Vector, so it’s difficult,” he said.
